As a Notre Dame alum and fan, I can safely say that ND doesn't go to the two national championship games in 2018 and 2019 without Jess Shepard coming from Nebraska.

Her defensive rebounding -- particularly when Bri Turner was out with an ACL -- was key in the 2018 championship season. And it wasn't just the rebounding but the outlet passes: they ignited the downhill attacks of Arike Ogunbowale, Marina Mabrey and Jackie Young.

She didn't quite have the point forward responsibilities early on: that fell to Kat Westbeld. But when Westbeld graduated and Turner came back the next season, Shepard largely moved to the elbow and one started seeing the ability to throw down low, swing the ball weakside and look for back-door cuts. She's only gotten better.

So very glad to see her doing well. Shep should be in the All-Star game, for sure.

Jess and Gabby Williams are my two favorite players because of how they can do absolutely anything on the floor. Just so fun to watch.
