Sika Kone

An injury less serious than expected

Sika Kone, best player of LF Endesa and jewel of African basketball, will undergo, today, an arthroscopy of her right knee. A benign operation that will not require more than three to four weeks of absence, contrary to what had been announced. The injury occurred during the game played in Vitoria by CB SPAR Gran Canaria against Kutxabank Araski (victory 62-60). The Malian interior is very optimistic about his return and reassuring to the WNBA franchises that would like to draft her in mid-April. A hard worker, Sika is an example of willpower. "There is no secret, work, work, always work. This little break will make me even stronger," said the MVP of the LF Endesa who averaged 13.3 points, 11.9 rebounds, 1.2 assists for 21.2 efficiency. In 18 games, Kone was the most prolific player in the entire Endesa Women's League, confirming an unparalleled dominance in the Spanish paint. It is also worth mentioning her fantastic performance last month against the French team, bronze medalist at the last Olympic Games. At 19 years old, Sika had then exploded in the eyes of the basketball planet with her perfect 10 out of 10 shooting for 26 points, 9 rebounds, 5 steals (36 efficiency) which earned her a place in the All-Star Five of the World Cup qualifications.
