So much depends on what Clark, Bueckers and Reese do, and the lack of in-depth reporting on women's basketball makes it very hard to parse what might happen.
I think the Fever should roll the dice on SDS -- but hopefully on a one- or at most two-year deal. At some point, you have to quit stockpiling young players and try to win, and I think Indiana is at that point.
Yeah, I figure if Boston/Smith improve as you'd expect and you're adding another lottery pick, it ought to be difficult to avoid playoff contention next year. So you stop being bad and actively aim to get better. Might take a two-year max for SDS but I'd be tempted too, considering they have acres of cap space anyway. But I'd quietly investigate whether Clark is leaning in or out first (if they get the #1).
You think you should trade Smith for another young post? I don't think that's the solution. I would keep Smith amd Boston together because of their growth this season together. I think maybe a trade for one of the guards for an experienced guard and thr 2025 draft pick may be the solution. Skylar to me is a risk.
I didn't say that at all. Just that if you end up with a pick and a draft class where the clear 'best player available' is another post, you have to think about either trading the pick or Smith. Otherwise you're overcrowding your assets in one area. One way or another they need to add to their perimeter options.
