Will be (possibly a little shitshow but) fun!

Free agents don't have to be protected, so there are a lot of players that will be in limbo. I think Connecticut has seven or eight free agents next year, so they don't even have enough players to protect.

Maybe you have more info from past drafts that I couldn't find when it came to UFA rules... my approach to the free agents was that since the Valks would be allowed to pick and core one UFA that teams would still want to protect them assuming that they were planning to re-sign them. Where it's complicated in my scenario would be if teams don't want to re-sign certain players and would be fine with GS picking them up. We don't have any idea what the rules are going to be, so I just tried to take a practical approach. If I removed all the UFAs from protection, then I'd have to lower the number of players to protect, otherwise GS wont have almost anyone to pick from

So I checked with Richard Cohen on this, and went from a list of prospective free agents, and this is what I came up with from the Valkyries' perspective:

https://newsbreakapp.onelink.me/2115408369?pid=mp_1371923&msource=mp_1371923&docid=0tuAswvq&af_dp=newsbreak%3A%2F%2Fopendoc%3Fdocid%3D0tuAswvq&af_web_dp=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.newsbreak.com%2Faf-landing%3Fdocid%3D0tuAswvq

The league is going to have to figure something out, as so many players are free agents this year. The Valkyries will operate with the same salary cap as everyone else, but no bad contracts, so that's where their resources will go.

It's definitely a complicated situation.

Yeah you can see in your findings why I decided to have the teams protect their free agents... there weren't a lot of options if I didn't. It is an unusual situation with all the players hitting free agency. They're going to need an answer for that problem

What about Marine Johannes? I would think she'd be picked over KT if the Liberty don't protect her. Or is she somehow not eligible to be picked?

It’s been reported locally that the Sky might look to trade Evans (who is a fan favorite but who from my viewpoint wouldn’t be missed). If the front office sees her as a potential pick in the expansion draft, they would have that much more incentive to trade her first if they can.
