A’ja Wilson dropped 42 points in the latest chapter of one of the greatest individual seasons in WNBA history. However, that outstanding effort did come in a loss to the Dallas Wings, dropping Vegas to No. 5 in the standings and, for now, out of hosting a first-round playoff series. Let’s just say that’s not something I had on my 2024 bingo card for the two-time defending champs!
This week’s trivia challenge covers A’ja’s 40 piece, Angel Reese’s latest collaboration, yet another record for Caitlin Clark, and a smattering of other happenings around the league. And just your weekly reminder that Substack doesn’t have the functionality to display the correct answer after you respond (the checkmark simply denotes which option you chose), so you’ll have to scroll to the bottom to discover the correct answers. Good luck!
Question 1. In one of the most logical partnerships in recent memory, it was announced that which product will be collaborating with Angel Reese?
Question 2. According to Richard Cohen’s article that came out on Thursday, roughly what fraction of Angel Reese's rebounds have come off her own misses (excluding Chicago's most recent game on Wednesday, August 28)?
Question 3. In the ‘another day, another Caitlin Clark record department’, whose record for 3-pointers made by a rookie did Clark recently break?
Question 4. Which player recorded a triple-double this past Wednesday (August 28)? It was her first career triple-double in a storied career that has spanned 421 regular season games.
Question 5. On Tuesday, August 27, A’ja Wilson dropped 42 points in Las Vegas’ loss to Dallas. Who is the only other player with a 40-point game this season?
Question 6. On Wednesday, August 28, which player set a new franchise record for most consecutive 20-point games with five (and counting)?
Question 7. We’re ending this week with what I think is a pretty tough question, so best of luck! There are currently three teams in the WNBA with a winning percentage of at least 70% (New York, Minnesota, and Connecticut). Only two times in league history have three teams finished a season with a winning percentage of at least 70%. What were those two seasons? Hint: In one of the seasons, the three teams were Los Angeles, Connecticut, and Minnesota. In the other season, the teams were Chicago, Los Angeles, and Minnesota.
